VM9725BT Software Update Procedure 9725BT.1002.zip

 

 

NOTES:

1.    Read and understand these instructions before proceeding with the update software. These instructions are specific to VM9725BT.

2.    Before beginning the update procedure, turn OFF Bluetooth in the head unit. Go to the Bluetooth source > Setup (lower right-hand corner) > Bluetooth > OFF.

3.    If the “Demo Mode” is ON, go into the Set-Up Menu > General > Scroll down and turn Demo Mode OFF.

4.    Do not power OFF the head unit during the software update or the head unit may become inoperable.

 

Preparing the MicroSD Card for Head Unit Updates

 

1.    Items needed to update the VM9725BT:

a.    1GB (or larger) MicroSD card with adapter (When you buy a MicroSD card, they all come with a MicroSD card to full size SD card adapter).

 

2.    Format the extra MicroSD card prior to beginning the software update procedure. Deleting any existing data on the MicroSD card is not the same as formatting it. Format the MicroSD card using FAT32.

 

3.    After downloading the VM9725BT Software Update file, it will need to be “unzipped”. Below is an image of what the “unzipped” VM9725BT software file looks like:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

4.    These files will need to be placed onto the ROOT directory of the extra MicroSD card (Do not use the map MicroSD card). When the MicroSD card is loaded correctly, it should resemble the below image:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

5.    This software procedure will update the following systems:

a.    MCU

b.    MPU

c.    OS

d.    MPEG

e.    Bluetooth (BT)

 

6.    To update the following systems, the MicroSD card slot (top right-hand corner) is used:

a.    MCU

b.    MPU

c.    OS

d.    BT

 

 

 

7.    To update the MPEG system, the front USB port is used.

 

8.    Remove the factory map MicroSD card and set it aside. Do not add, delete or modify any files on the map MicroSD card.

 

Beginning the software Update

 

9.     All of the system updates must be performed to update the VM9725BT to the  latest software.

 

10.  Make sure the VM9725BT is OFF.

 

11.  Take out the map data MicroSD card (Should already be out per instructions above).

 

12.  Turn ON the VM9725BT.

 

13.  Insert the MicroSD card (w/ updates) into the MicroSD card slot.

 

14.  Go to the Main Source Menu and select the Navigation icon. The Software Update Menu will appear.

 

15.  The systems need to be updated in the following order;

a.    MCU

b.    MPU

c.    OS

d.    MPEG

e.    BT

 

16.  Press the red arrow pointing right (right-hand corner of TFT) for MCU update. The page will scroll to another page. Press the right red arrow again to begin the update. The head unit will update itself and reboot.

 

17. During the reboot, pop out the MicroSD card from the slot, but do not remove it. If the MicroSD card is not popped out of the slot before the head unit powers back up, the OS will automatically update. You will have about 4 seconds to pop out the MicroSD card. If you miss the time window to pop out the MicroSD card, then let the OS update and then pop out the MicroSD card on the next cycle. If the OS update is performed out of sequence nothing will be affected.

 

18. The head unit will reboot and return to the Main Source Menu. Go into Settings and disable the Demo Mode. Go back to the Main Source Menu.

 

19.  Reinsert the MicroSD card.

 

20. Select the Navigation icon. The Software Update Menu will appear.

 

21.  Press the red arrow pointing right (right-hand corner of TFT) for MPU update. The page will scroll to another page. Press the right red arrow again to begin the update. The head unit will update itself and reboot.

 

22.  During the reboot, pop out the MicroSD card from the slot, but do not remove it. If the MicroSD card is not popped out of the slot before the head unit powers back up, the OS will automatically update. You will have about 4 seconds to pop out the MicroSD card. If you miss the time window to pop out the MicroSD card, then let the OS update and then pop out the MicroSD card on the next cycle.

 

23.  Insert the MicroSD card and turn the head unit OFF, then back ON.

 

24.  A blue / teal update screen will display and the OS will update automatically in 4 steps.

 

25.  After the OS is finished updating, you will be returned to the Software Update Menu.

 

MPEG Update

26.  Plug the MicroSD card w/ adapter into the front USB port.

 

27.  After a few moments, the Software Update Menu should automatically load. If not, go to the Main Source Menu and select the NAV icon.

 

28.  Press the red arrow pointing right (right-hand corner of TFT) for MPEG update. The page will scroll to another page. Press the right red arrow again to begin the update. The head unit will update itself and reboot and take you back to the Software Update Menu.

 

29.  Take out the MicroSD card w/ adapter and press the reset button just below and slightly to the left of the rotary encoder (volume control).

 

BT Update

 

30. Turn ON BT in the “BT Options” menu. Go to the Bluetooth source > Setup (lower right-hand corner) > Bluetooth > ON.

31. Delete the files on the MicroSD card that were used for the MCU / MPU / OS / MPEG update.

32.  The Bluetooth update files now need to be copied to the MicroSD card. Look in the “Bluetooth” folder that was previously unzipped. Copy the contents of the Bluetooth folder to the ROOT directory of the MicroSD card. The MicroSD card should look like the below image when loaded correctly:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

33.  Insert the MicroSD card into the head unit. Go to the Main Source Menu and select the NAV icon and the Software Update Menu will appear.

 

34.  Press the red arrow pointing right (right-hand corner of TFT) for BT update. The page will scroll to another page. Press the right red arrow again to begin the update. The head unit will update itself and reboot.

 

35.  After the BT update remove the MicroSD card and reinsert the original map data MicroSD card.

36. Verify firmware versions. Go to the Settings Menu > DVD Rating > Scroll down list, the following firmware numbers should be listed:

 

a.    OS:  PA01-v2.02.0038.13-15L

b.    MPU: 0.15.0.40 2013-05-06

c.    MCU: v2.17 Nov 17 2012

d.    MPEG: 15.0.13 2013-01-10

e.    BT: HW05-SW01.34.00

 

 

37.  Updates are now complete.
